Hi
I popped over to Carers Link East Dunbartonshire to see great friends who both attend the dementia - carer support group and work there supporting people across their community
was great to meet up ,have a chat and update on the Dementia Carer Voices Project .Christopher who works on policy and information on the DCV came along
after the update i gave a short interview as part of a wider film they are making on carers rights to be shown at their AGM
GREAT TO SEE EVERYONE AGAIN ,and thank you from a son for the support given to my wee campaign since the first day
AGM Just Around the Corner…
This year’s AGM will be our 9th and it would be great to see you there. It will take place on Friday 22nd November in Milngavie Enterprise Centre, beginning at 11am and followed by our ever-popular buffet lunch!
At last year’s AGM we launched Journey with Carers: A Survival Guide and themed the day around this. We were lucky enough to be revisited by Tommy Whitelaw, who has campaigned relentlessly over the past few years for more support for carers, and for Dementia Carers in particular. Tommy spoke at our AGM two years ago and made a huge impression on everyone there, and he is now an Honorary Member of Carers Link, having been nominated by AnneMcGoldrick:
“He has been such a wonderful carer to his mum and has given so many other carers hope that there will be more support for dementia sufferers. The walk over many miles raising awareness, the football parks filled with people showing just how many people are out there needing help and support. Tommy has touched their hearts with his caring role. He is without a doubt the perfect man for Carers Link to give this honour to.”
Since the AGM, Fiona McLeod MSP has mentioned Tommy’s campaign and Carers Link in the Scottish Parliament – something we are delighted about because we are always keen to raise the profile of the organisation.
Further details about this year’s AGM will be posted out separately to members nearer the time. Please come along on the day if you are able to – you will be made very welcome.
